Some time ago I posted a picture on Facebook and asked my friends to guess what I was making. I received a lot of suggestions like "iron sock" or "wire knee strap", though some were closer with "stone casing". I have to give people credit - it remotely reminded the way my grandmother would start knitting a sock :-) Here is the reveal - a wire cage! I made a spider web by twisting two pieces of 20 Ga (0.8 mm) wire and weaving around them with 26 Ga (0.4 mm) wire in figure eight. Then I curved the 20 Ga wire upwards and continued with the weaving. I filled the cage with shiny crystals and tiny charms and added a pearl on a head pin at the top. It serves two purposes: a) to press and prevent the filling from moving around and b) for hanging. The charms can follow a theme. In this case, they are the initial letter for the word "luck" in Bulgarian and a tortoise for long life.

It looks like a cute little potion bottle to me, something that maybe faeries carry around on their necks??
I noticed the resemblance, too :) So the glittery crystals can pass for pixie dust, right?
Oh very cool! I would totally not have the patience for that. You rocked it!
Thank you, Hope! I'm not always persistent but sometimes being stubborn helps :)
