В тази публикация разказах за опитите си за оцветяване на морско стъкло и продължавам да експериментирам. Бях споделила, че алкохолните мастила като че ли правят стъклото да изглежда по-прозрачно. Подсказаха ми, че ако залепя от долната страна домакинско алуминиево фолио, стъклото ще заблести отвътре. Използвах златен варак за всички стъкла, освен жълтото с червената шарка - него подлепих с домакинско алуминиево фолио. Всяко прозрачно лепило би било подходящо, аз ползвам декупажно Mod Podge.

I was told that gluing aluminum foil on the back will add that inner glow to the glass. I used gold leaf on all glass pieces and aluminum foil on the yellow one with the red blotch. При стъклата, боядисани с оцветители за смола, цветът се загуби напълно, но боядисах повторно с алкохолни мастила.
The effect of foil on the pieces, colored with resin tints, was different - the color was lost completely so I repeated with alcohol inks.
Също така промених схемата на лакиране, т.к. едно от червените стъкълца пусна малко боя върху пръстите ми след патиниране с варено яйце. Само едно от всички, но реших да взема предпазни мерки и сега слагам първо лак на водна основа и после солвентен лак.
I used solvent varnish on alcohol inks but one of the red pieces leaked some color after boiled egg patina. Only one of them and just a dot on my fingers but still, not good! So I decided to brush water-based and then solvent varnish from now on.
Въпреки тези опити, предпочитам морското стъкло такова каквото е - с "осолената" му текстура и полупрозрачност.
In spite of all the experiments, I prefer the sea glass the way it is with its "salted" texture and semi-transparency.

In my experience, I have seen that the colour + foil technique works better on plain (clear) glass than previously coloured glass. After all, that is how glass stones have been traditionally made across the globe for centuries. In your pictures, I love how the blue pieces turned out. They seem to really glow. Would it be simpler to patina your wires first or use antique wires with the coloured sea glass? Also, beadaholic does have a variety of coloured cultivate sea glass beads. some of the mare big enough to be use as pendant. Maybe you could check them out sometime if you prefer the natural finish.
ОтговорИзтриванеThanks for all the tips, Divya! I decided to experiment with foil so that the construction on back side is not visible plus to make the colors pop. In the first pieces I made the colors showed best only under direct light. I have a big stash of genuine sea glass and that's why I'm looking for ways to utilize it. Too bad the pieces I find are getting smaller and smaller :)
