The Haberdashery Challenge /

Are you looking for my 8BSBP Reveal?

As much as I was excited about the Haberdashery Blog Hop, hosted by Melissa Trudinger of Beadrecipes, I wasn't happy with any of my designs and finally decided to put away the lace and silk fabric strips and go safely with buttons only. I had made a button necklace earlier I was very proud of and was determined to not use buttons this time but it didn't work. Finally, I made a wire crochet necklace with a focal, consisting of several dangles. I even have a spare focal now :)

I crocheted a strand of white glass pearls with pale pink Austrian crystal beads and another one with peach glass pearls and transparent Austrian crystal beads and twisted them. I had made several dangles with shell buttons and selected some of them for the focal. I also used an ocean pearl with irregular shape, some crystals and a flower bead.

I am glad I managed to try a new technique - making knotted headpins and I am very proud that I figured out how to attach the flower bead to the butterfly shell button by wire wrapping. And here is the list of the other participants:

  1. This is a great necklace, I like how you combined the crochet with wire and beads. It has a very sophisticated look.

  2. This is a beautifully romantic necklace. I love the soft pastel crystals and pearls with the delicate dangles of the focal. And your knotted head pins are wonderful. Mine never turn out that well.

  3. Your necklace is lovely. Beautiful soft colors and shapes. I love the butterflies. Great use of buttons and I envy your crochet ability! :)

  4. your necklace screams - vintage romance in an incredibly soft way with beautiful pink-peach tints. The buttons make lovely focals indeed

  5. I never could figure out wire crochet, it seems very complicated. Your necklace is very feminine and delicate and romantic and the wire crochet works perfect. As the combination with the dangle focal.

  6. Gorgeous necklace, love the crocheting and how you added the buttons to your design.

  7. What a lovely romantic piece! I love the look of wire crochet but can't do it myself (the sound of the wire on the hook is like nails on a chalkboard for me) so it's nice to see such a gorgeous piece.

  8. I love the delicate necklace you created! You did a wonderful job with the wire crochet & pearls. Love the buttons! Many thanks for the u-tube video on making knotted headpins. I learned something new to try! :)

  9. I really appreciate all the nice and encouraging comments! Thank you, ladies!

  11. Those butterfly shell buttons are so sweet! Lovely necklace, I love the delicate colours, which complement the delicate buttons so well. Thanks for joining in with my blog hop!

  12. The soft colors of your piece really captured my attention! I never thought to 'twist' the strand of wire crochet after the completing the row!...and that's the step that had likely been missing from any attempt I've ever made! Thank you for mentioning it! I'm going to try again now! My favorite design element are those adorable butterfly buttons..softly fluttering underneath.

    1. Thank you! I knew those buttons will come handy when I bought them a couple of years ago :)

  14. Soft color is so warm in the eye and your jewelry matching with that image. Love the dangle. I must try someday doing with buttons too, cause I never make anything using button before.

  15. Such a pretty necklace, love the colours and delicacy of the piece with the inclusion of the buttons too. Really lovely

  17. Oh, your necklace is so romantic and dainty. I love how this came together.

  18. I've been away from blogging for far too long and realize that I've missed so many of your blog posts. Each post looks most interesting so guess I have some catching up to do. :D

I like the way you faced this challenge and love the necklace you created. I especially love the colors that you used, very soft and feminine. This is a necklace that can be worn for both fancy and casual occasions. Great job !.

I appreciate your comments!
