Are you looking for the 8BSBP Reveal ?
I was born and live in beautiful Bulgaria. I am half Bulgarian and half Greek. I love my country and also love traveling and discovering other beautiful places in the world. So when I came across Nanmade My Country Blog Hop, where the participants make something to represent their country, there is a reveal date and then everybody starts hopping, I signed up right away. The history of Bulgaria dates back to 681 A.D., when the First Bulgarian Kingdom was established ; the area has been inhabited since Paleolithic times; Thracians, Greeks, Romans, Slavs and Proto-Bulgarians have left their impact on our historical and cultural heritage. I can't pack everything in one post, so just this - Bulgaria is known for its sea and ski resorts, many historical places, ancient golden treasures, including the oldest on earth - 6000 years (here is a link to a related article in the National Geographic, you have to have an account to log in and read it). And if you play the video at the end of this post, you will listen to the Bulgarian folk song, included in the golden music record on board of Voyager. Imagine the sound of this voice in space!

I made a necklace and included some traditional elements:
- I made the focal from a decorative ribbon and sewed some seed beads and gold tone spacers on it in a random pattern - it turns out, traditional Bulgarian embroidery is never symmetrical because of the belief that symmetry is devil's work;
- I used gold tone coins - genuine gold coins are often part of the traditional Bulgarian jewelry;
- I mixed gold tone findings with copper color wire - I think it looks good :)
- I used red and black as my main colors because they are found in almost all styles and designs of traditional clothing.
Реших да импровизирам с гердан, в който да има нещичко от българските носии с техните шевици, бродерии и пендари. Спрях се на съчетанието червено, черно, злато и мед.
And here you will find the reveal post of the hostess Nan Smith and the links to the other participants.
А тук ще намерите и другите участници.
Beautiful necklace. the colors are rich and wonderful. I had no idea there were so many beach resorts in Bulgaria. Or that I really need to work on my asymmetrical designs to avoid doing the devil's work with all that symmetry. :)
ОтговорИзтриванеThank you, Tammy! Bulgaria is a small country but 200 km of the 345 km Black sea coast line are sand beaches :)
ИзтриванеAnd I forgot to comment on your "issues" with asymmetry - it's all about the devil being very good at his work :)
Изтриванеbeautiful necklace. Love the gold coins. I bet this piece has wonderful movement when worn.
ОтговорИзтриванеlove the black and red , so bold so vibrant.
Thanks, Deb!
ИзтриванеI love your necklace with the combination of fabric, beads and gold coins. It has a traditional feel to it but also a modern vibe. The best of both worlds. Much like Bulgaria with the sea and ski resorts. It looks like a beautiful country with so much history....love the old town architecture. thanks for taking part and sharing!
ОтговорИзтриванеThanks, Nan! Great idea for a blog hop - like everybody else, I'm looking forward to the next one - to tell more about my country, learn more about other countries and be inspired!
ИзтриванеI have always been fascinated by Bulgarian jewelry - so I am a little familiar with the red, black and gold combination and the coins. The concept of symmetry being devil's work is very interesting for I believe the same, its very difficult for me to get both sides to look the same :) Would you be interested in writing a guest post on my blog about traditional Bulgarian jewelry (esp wedding jewelry) sometime?
ОтговорИзтриванеI have noticed that you have a professional attitude to what you do and vast knowledge not only in the field of jewelry design. I am an amateur and I will gladly write a post on Bulgarian wedding jewelry but I need to make some serious research before that, including sourcing of pictures & permissions to publish them. I am thinking about some time after October, if this is OK with you.
ИзтриванеVery nice! I love the colors and the richness! Excellent work!

ИзтриванеThe necklace is divine, truly beautiful and I can see it being worn with the lovely traditional dresses of your country. Of course it is also a piece that will look just a beautiful with today's modern fashions. Great creation and a job well done. :)

ИзтриванеBairozan, thank you for sharing! I just love learning about other countries & places. I'm going to check out your tutorials. Thanks so much!
ОтговорИзтриванеI'm very late on this post because I actually forgot about it. So my post will be up next week. I live in Texas, USA
I will be on the look out for your post for sure! And thank you :)
ИзтриванеI’m very late commenting, but better late than ever. I had no idea that Bulgaria was such an old nation. It’s amazing that you have two different kinds of resorts: the ski and the beach, one would expect just one type. I love seeing the Bulgarian traditional costumes and your necklace inspired in traditional jewellery but at the same time totally wearable according to nowadays fashion.
ОтговорИзтриванеThank you, Ana!
