Спирални щифтове от тел / Spiral Wire Prongs

Има една техника за закрепване на кабошони с нещо като щифтове от тел (видео). Докато се опитвах да я усвоя, измислих още един начин. Във висулката по-долу виждате и двата варианта. Цитринът е с неправилна форма и е закрепен по начина от видеото, а лабрадоритът - по моя начин.

There is a wire prongs setting technique for cabochons. While practicing, I came up with one more way. You will see both in the pendant below. I used the method from the video link above on the free-form citrine and my method on the labradorite cab. Here are the details of my method:

Oплитате паяжина около четири дълги телчета, колкото да покрие гърба на камъка; увивате краищата на спирали; обръщате спиралите върху камъка; закрепвате камъка към рамката. В този случай захванах две телчета към рамката, поставих оплетената паяжина под тях, кабошона отгоре и закрепих със спиралите. За да са по-здрави спиралите, ползвайте тел 0.8 или 1.0 мм. Идеята е да застопорите кабошона и да улесните по-нататъшното оплитане. Вижте снимките:

This is what you have to do: (a) weave a cobweb around four long pieces of wire just enough to cover the back of the stone; (b) make spirals with the longish ends; (b) turn the spirals onto the stone and (c) attach this element to the frame with separate segments of wire. In this case I attached two short wire segments to the frame to support the pendant, placed the cobweb just below them and the cab on top and then secured the cab by turning the spirals onto it. It's better to use 18 or 20 Ga wire. The idea is to prevent the cab from moving while weaving. Check out the pictorial:
