The Haberdashery Challenge /

Are you looking for my 8BSBP Reveal?

As much as I was excited about the Haberdashery Blog Hop, hosted by Melissa Trudinger of Beadrecipes, I wasn't happy with any of my designs and finally decided to put away the lace and silk fabric strips and go safely with buttons only. I had made a button necklace earlier I was very proud of and was determined to not use buttons this time but it didn't work. Finally, I made a wire crochet necklace with a focal, consisting of several dangles. I even have a spare focal now :)

I crocheted a strand of white glass pearls with pale pink Austrian crystal beads and another one with peach glass pearls and transparent Austrian crystal beads and twisted them. I had made several dangles with shell buttons and selected some of them for the focal. I also used an ocean pearl with irregular shape, some crystals and a flower bead.

I am glad I managed to try a new technique - making knotted headpins and I am very proud that I figured out how to attach the flower bead to the butterfly shell button by wire wrapping. And here is the list of the other participants:

  5. I never could figure out wire crochet, it seems very complicated. Your necklace is very feminine and delicate and romantic and the wire crochet works perfect. As the combination with the dangle focal.

  7. What a lovely romantic piece! I love the look of wire crochet but can't do it myself (the sound of the wire on the hook is like nails on a chalkboard for me) so it's nice to see such a gorgeous piece.

  12. The soft colors of your piece really captured my attention! I never thought to 'twist' the strand of wire crochet after the completing the row!...and that's the step that had likely been missing from any attempt I've ever made! Thank you for mentioning it! I'm going to try again now! My favorite design element are those adorable butterfly buttons..softly fluttering underneath.

  14. Soft color is so warm in the eye and your jewelry matching with that image. Love the dangle. I must try someday doing with buttons too, cause I never make anything using button before.
